Hampstead Way

152 Hampstead Way is located in Hampstead Garden Suburb, founded by Henrietta Barnett, who, with her husband founded the Whitechapel Art Gallery and in 1906 set up the Hampstead Garden Suburb Trust Ltd.

Number 152 is situated within the Artisan quarter. The property is Grade II listed and has notable historic value, making a positive contribution to the terrace and neighbouring area.

Freehaus were approached by the home owners through Price & Myers Engineers, to help rescue the project as it had become clear, following permitted strip out, that the designs submitted for Listed Building consent, (by others), were impossible to deliver.

With our expert knowledge of listed buildings, our hands on approach to construction and innovative detailing we were able to deliver a buildable and cost effective solution that met with building control approval and the rigours of the Conservation Area’s Design Guide and a new Listed Building Consents which we were able to achieve through close dialogue with conservation officers. The project demonstrated our ability to deliver under very challenging circumstances, working amongst heritage constraints to and to a critical deadline.
