Foliat Drive

Located in Wantage, Oxfordshire, the project on Foliat Drive proposes to renovate a rundown 1960s building into an efficient and exemplary contemporary residence.

Through an intensive and iterative pre-planning consultation phase, we were able to develop and fine-tune a series of design proposals.

The existing building strong Modernist character and a clearly articulated material palette defined our design direction. We sought to use subtle architectural manoeuvres to augment and upgrade the existing property whilst maintaining its distinctive personality.

The suburban context meant that the proposals needed to adhere to strict massing and material constraints. These requirements shaped the design through extensive material and massing studies in collaboration with the Local Authority.

The project is awaiting planning determination before moving into the technical design phase.
